Thanks to the increased pixel count of 640x480px and extended image angles up to 90° x 69°, VGA thermal modules can see more details, cover larger areas (for perimeter security) and detect temperature differences from a greater distance than CIF variants (336x256 px). The thermal sensor modules are available in different versions: VGA from 32° to 90°, CIF from 17° to 45°.

Thermal module PtMount

PTMount Thermal (IP66), which is resistant to all weather conditions, is a compact, attractive, dome-shaped mount that is adjustable in three axes. The sensor module is built into the dome at the factory and comes as standard with a 2 metre sensor cable to connect it to the S74.

Thermal imaging is a non-contact imaging procedure that allows you to see heat radiation from an object or body that is otherwise invisible to the human eye (mid-wavelength infrared radiation). Thermal radiation is the electromagnetic radiation that a body emits depending on its temperature. It is caused by the thermal movement of molecules in the body. Accelerated charges emit radiation according to the laws of electrodynamics.

Waterproof PoE Dual Thermographic Lens

The M16 Thermal TR is identical to the M16 Thermal, but with the additional "temperature measurement" option provided by the calibrated thermal image sensor, measuring from -40°C to 550°C (-40°F to 1022°F). This determines the surface temperature of the objects to be measured. Three different angle sensors (45°, 25° or 17°) are available, all with special germanium lenses. A second image sensor module can be added.

Regardless of emission factor

TR cameras can measure temperature to within +/- 10 Kelvin and automatically trigger an alert if the temperature exceeds or falls below a pre-set level. The accuracy of the measurements depends on the emission coefficient of the object and other aspects. These are determined by the material and surface. Matte black objects are ideal. Objects with a reflective surface generally have a lower emission coefficient.

Do not use as a thermometer, but as a preventive measure!

TR technology is rarely used to measure precise surface temperatures; simple temperature sensors are much more cost-effective. This technology allows the camera to independently detect temperature increases above or decreases below certain limits and react immediately, automatically.

Thermal radiation is not affected by glass

Both the protective case and the lens are made of germanium, a semiconducting material, as standard glass would interfere with thermal radiation. If a glass panel is placed between the thermographic camera and the object to be measured, the camera is no longer able to measure thermal radiation. This can be remedied by using a second image sensor module.

Detect the risk of smouldering immediately

MOBOTIX TR technology can detect smouldering flames that are invisible to the human eye but cause changes in the ambient temperature. It allows the risk to be detected and the flames extinguished before major damage is caused. Another important advantage is that thermal imaging technology can be used at a distance of several hundred metres. This means that the camera can monitor large or inaccessible areas.

Determination of smouldering in a landfill

The thermal image on the right clearly shows a dangerous temperature rise. The MOBOTIX camera with TR technology continuously records and measures temperature ranges throughout the image (or up to 20 different exposure windows) and can immediately alert if the temperature reaches a user-defined temperature limit (e.g. 60°C/140°F).

Double thermal lens

The S16 Thermal camera is equipped with the S16 DualFlex camera frame, which can be used with image sensor modules or combined with one or two weatherproof thermal sensor modules for thermographic applications. Two types of thermosensor modules with three different viewing angles (45°, 25° or 17°) are available, each of which can be combined with thermal radiometry technology to observe incidents related to temperature fluctuations.

The S16 camera with a thermosensor module or modules is probably the most flexible dual thermal camera in the world. Thermosensor modules can be flexibly connected to an easy-to-hide camera body using up to three metres of sensor cable, allowing flexible installation as well as efficient monitoring of two different areas with one camera.

Easy to install, waterproof (IP66)

The thermosensor modules have a robust metal housing. Thanks to a removable stainless steel pressure plate, the modules can be securely mounted in walls or other equipment surfaces (drill diameter 48 to 53 mm) with a maximum wall thickness of 14 mm. It is also possible to individually fix the thermosensor module with standard M4 screws using the holes in the edges of the modules.
